Phi Gamma Delta of Michigan Foundation

The Phi Gamma Delta of Michigan Foundation (“Educational Foundation”) serves as the non-profit organization to support the educational needs of the Chapter.  Contributions are tax deductible under the provisions of 501(c)3 of the tax code.

Phi Gamma Delta holds academics to be a key priority for all brothers. Last winter the Alpha Phi colony placed second in GPA among all fraternities; and in the fall of ’02, the Alpha Phi colony held the highest fraternity GPA on campus, a strong 3.364 (1/29 fraternities). To place a strong emphasis on knowledge and academics, Fiji International provides numerous scholarship opportunities. The AAA scholarship awards 250 dollars to any initiated brother who earns a 3.0 or higher during his pledge semester. The following, taken from www.phigam.org, is a brief summary of several scholarships given by the Phi Gamma Delta Educational Foundation.

General Scholarships and Fellowships

Each year, the Phi Gamma Delta Educational Foundation receives gifts from Brothers who wish to help their undergraduate and graduate Brothers with educational pursuits. The Foundation receives these gifts from graduates and asks for applications from Phi Gamma Delta’s best and most deserving . Scholarships and fellowships generally are $1,000 each and are awarded on the basis of scholarship, leadership, citizenship and need for financial assistance. Significant emphasis is assigned to financial need. Scholarships are available for undergraduate Brothers of Phi Gamma Delta with a cumulative 3.0 GPA, planning to attend a fully accredited institution as a full-time student during the entire 2000-01 academic year. Fellowships are open to members of Phi Gamma Delta for graduate study at fully accredited institutions.

Since 1947, the Educational Foundation has been distributing awards to alleviate expenses associated with undergraduate studies and graduate school. Each year, approximately $125,000 is distributed to Brothers as either scholarships for undergraduates or fellowships for graduate students. All awards have requirements that must be met for eligibility.
