60 Brothers gathered on November 22nd to celebrate the 119th annual Pig Dinner at the Michigan Union. The Undergrads resumed leadership for hosting this traditional event and did a bang up job.
This year, the Pig Dinner introduced some fresh ideas, as the Undergrads took ownership of the event. Prior years were spearheaded by Tom Eames 65 dating back to the years when we had no Undergrad chapter (thrown out by National).
There were no Undergrads to host it, and it carried forward until this year when the Undergrads rightfully took ownership with the help of John Melick ‘84.
This year, dinner was served in the Michigan Union (instead of the house) on Friday night, November 22nd, to avoid the complexities of coordinating with the football game vs Northwestern on Saturday. Of the 60 Brothers that attended, and Undergrads showed their commitment with 50 signing up, There was also a new activity added this year to help build the communication between Ugrads and Grads. Based on social media called Speed Dating, where someone interested in dating can meet several people online in short interviews, the Pig Dinner version connects Ugrads and Grads to talk about career sharing. The Ugrads move from station to station manned by Grads to have a short discussion about Grad experience in their particular career.
